Trust: To have or place reliance; depend.
During this adoption process, we have to trust our home study agency, our international adoption agency, the Congolese government, our case worker, the orphanage workers, the US government, the lawyers, etc. We have to depend on them to do their job to get Camden home. Over the course of this process, our trust has been broken with several of these people/places but we continue to fight to bring our son home.
Psalm 112:7 "He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord."
Over the last few weeks, I have clung to this verse. We were told from our adoption agency that we passed court in January and have been waiting since then for 2 documents to move to the next step in the process. I emailed them almost every week since January to ask if they received our documents. They told us that they were contacting our lawyers in Congo and we were told still no documents. Trust.
Fast forward to the end of June - I checked our email before Wednesday night church and found an email from our agency. The subject line stated "Important Information." My heart starting racing thinking that this was the email we have been waiting 5 months for. As I opened it and started reading, it was devastating news that our adoption agency would be closing in 5 days and we had to find another agency in that time. Over the next 5 days, I talked with our agency about options for our family to move forward, other parents that were in the same boat as us, and the man in charge of the agency that took over Camden's orphanage. Trust.
Psalm 31:14 "But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, You are my God."
We prayed for clear direction on how to move forward with our adoption. The Lord continued to show us the way with each person that we talked with in this craziness. We found out that we could move forward as an independent adoption. We will not use an adoption agency but will work with our lawyers in Congo to bring Camden home. Trust.
Our lawyers in Congo didn't get paid from our adoption agency in February so our documents that we needed to move forward have been "on hold" since then. We will send a check to our lawyers next week to get the "on hold" documents in about 2 weeks. We will translate them and send them off for our I600. The I600 step is taking about 3 - 6 months for the US government to finish. Trust.
With our agency closing, we have made connections with important people in the Congo and now have direct communication with the man over Camden's orphanage for updates/pictures. Such a blessing!
Trust. We will continue to trust the Lord's plan and timing to bring Camden home forever. Continue to pray for the details to finish this adoption, the communication with our lawyers, Camden's move to another orphanage, and that our lives will be a testimony of the Lord's faithfulness. :)
